Larry-chan's Game of Hide-and-Seek — Nakahara-ku, Kawasaki

Categories:  >

This time, I came to care for

Larry-chan, an adorable black cat.💕

At our meeting, I'd gotten to see her looking lovely up on the bed, so I arrived for the first day of care with my spirits soaring.

Huh? She's… no-where… to be found…

Well, this happens often enough with cats.

So first I cleared my care-taking mission, and then the cat hunt began — which is part of the fun, too!😊

Under the sofa, behind the curtains, in the gaps between the furniture — I kept searching, and at last I found her‼️

There was Larry-chan, under the bed.❤️

Yawning now and then, she was clearly in relaxed mode — though sadly, this time, all I got was a bit of eye contact from her hiding spot.🤭

I'd love a rematch next time!👍

See you again, Larry-chan👋

Were the Treats Tasty? — Tarumi-ku, Kobe

Categories:  >

The one I visited this time

was Koto-chan, a three-year-old calico cat.😺

It had been a while since their last request,

and this time it was a three-day stay.😊

Last time she was ever so shy,

and wouldn't touch her treats at all,

but this time — would you believe it —

she ate her treats all three days!

🌱Day 1🌱

☘️Day 2☘️

🍀Day 3🍀

Once again, she did a wonderful job holding down the fort!

I'm already looking forward to seeing her

happy and well again next time.😸

See you again next time, Koto-chan!🧡

Little by Little, Little by Little… — Kawasaki-ku, Kawasaki

Categories:  >

This time, the lovely Ragdoll Tanu-chan.

Day by day, her expression slowly began to change —

please, take a look!😄

Day One.

"Who are you?"

"Please don't come so close…"

— that's just what she seemed to be saying.😅

I thought she'd greeted me with a little "meow,"

but then came a cute little growl, and even a "hiss!"

That's how she spoke to me that day.😄

Day Two.

She was still a little on guard, but

even as I edged a bit closer, she slipped away far less often.☺️

Though if I got a touch too close, she'd still tuck herself away just a little.

No more growling or hissing — she padded around the room with the sweetest little meows.😊

Day Three.

And then — would you believe it — Tanu-chan came and nuzzled right up against me! (Such a shame I couldn't capture it on camera.🥹)

She showed me her tummy, too — a wonderful surprise from Tanu-chan on our very last day.

Her expression seemed to have softened, just a little…

Even with treats — on Day Two she wouldn't take them, even held right to her mouth, but by Day Three she ate them happily. Feeling the distance between us shrink, little by little, made me so very glad.☺️

Sweet little Tanu-chan.💕

I do hope we'll meet again.

Thank you so much!😊

The Star of the Party — Wedding Sitter Tokyo

Categories:  > >

"I got to join my big sister's wedding!🎶 "

"And as the ring dog, I lit up the whole venue."

"For the party, I dressed up too… don't I look lovely?"

"As a reward, I was treated to a special dog meal🎶"

"It was so delicious that I finished every last bite🎶"

She even went for a walk, and played her big role beautifully — what a clever girl, our Sienna-chan!

A Pet Shop with No Price Tags — Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo

Categories:  > > > > > >

Their family, the owner says, has been called "a pet shop with no price tags."

And true to that name, what a big family it is — let me introduce them all!

First up, the crested geckos.

Only Zero-chan has a name so far, but I can't wait to see what the others will be called!🦎

Next, the leopard geckos, Asa-chan and Ume-chan,

and Ike-chan, a West African fat-tailed gecko.

They all love their cozy homes, so often all I can see is a peeking little body.

I'm so glad I managed to capture their faces nicely!🏘️

Maru-chan, a White's tree frog, is wonderfully friendly — he tried to climb onto my hand and went bonk, launching himself right at the doorway!🐸

His roommate, Waru-chan, has a slightly mischievous coloring, but he's actually calmer than Maru-chan.

There was also a little ornament friend that I first mistook for the real thing — "Wait, is he frozen?!" I panicked for a moment (ha!).

Then there's Yome-chan, another crested gecko,

and Shakure-chan, a Mikado gecko (chahoua).

Shakure-chan has the cutest little undershot jaw, but I couldn't quite capture it on camera — oh, the frustration of not being able to share just how adorable she is!

Yoko-chan, a New Caledonian giant gecko.

No, no — Yoko-san!

Best not to get on her bad side — she can be quite fearsome!⚡️

In the cage next to Yoko-san is Kogemi-chan, a hamster.🐹

"Give me my food!" she'd urge me — but she was so cute, I thought I'd snap a photo first… only to be met with quite the stern face!

Next, the degu crew.

There's still plenty more to come — are you all keeping up?

The young ones were full of energy, spinning round and round on their wheel! Before I knew it, they'd polished off all their pellets — hearty appetites and a job well done holding down the fort.🐭

By the second day, many were already eating right from my hand, and not one of them nipped — some even peeked out asking for more (ha!).

"This is the hand that brings food" — that they trust me like that is surely proof of how dearly they're loved every day!

The ones in the lower photo are the senior crew, but with their lovely coats, they're every bit as adorable as the rest. Miru-chan is a remarkable eight years old!

And last, the guinea pigs!

Their care always ends up last on the list, so they let me hear about it with a loud "Wheek!"🥺

Gin-kun is so lively that he made a break for it during cleaning, pattering about adorably.

Kin-kun and Gin-kun are foster pets, so now is the only time I'll get to meet them!

Saving the best for last — Abby-chan!

That soft, fluffy baby coat you can only enjoy right now!

Believe it or not, the photo on the left won a special prize (the "Tropical Resort" award) at the charm Koishikawa photo exhibition!🏅 She was so shy during her stay, yet here she strikes such a dignified pose.

A family so big you could open your own small-animal specialty shop!

A wide range of color variations in stock, too.

But there are no price tags here — these smiles are simply priceless!✨️

What a wonderfully fun visit it was!🏡

Nice to Meet You, Mongo-kun! — Toyonaka, Osaka

Categories:  >

This time, I had the pleasure of caring for Mongo-kun, a three-month-old Miniature Schnauzer.

From the very moment we met, I was head over heels!💖

Even at our very first hello, Mongo-kun wasn't the least bit shy — so wonderfully friendly.🥰

And bursting with energy, through and through!✨

Tail wagging away, he'd come leaping right up to me.🎶

And at every chance, he'd give my trousers a little nibble-nibble.😂

And here's the thing — Mongo-kun has already mastered "sit"! How impressive!👏✨

His room is full of toys — balls, rings, ropes, clothes-shaped ones, squid-shaped ones,

so many to choose from.

Which one was his favorite, I wondered? So we held a little toy championship!🧸

And the result…

The rainbow rope toy was a strong contender, but

in the end, the squid plushie took first place — or so it seemed to me!🦑✨

He played with me right up until the very last minute, and did such a great job holding down the fort.🐾

Let's play again soon!☺️🍀
