"Bravely Holding Down the Fort" — Suginami-ku, Tokyo
Categories: Dogs > On the Job
This time, I cared for Yuzu-chan.
Eleven years old.

Right from our first meeting,
she'd bark a little, but
Yuzu-chan is a reserved little one.
She quickly took refuge in her cage😅
When I petted her, I could almost hear a little "Eek~💦💦"
— that's the feeling I got😅
But she let me touch her all the same🤭
On the day of care, too, she'd bark a little, but
she quickly took refuge in her cage.
While I cleaned up after her,
she came out of her cage and joined the watch patrol.

Even when I set down her food — still on watch patrol🤭
After watching her for a little while,
she came a bit closer.

She ate👏👏

She'd left a little, so I let it be,
and finished up my visit.
When the owner returned home,
I was told that her meal, along with the one set in the automatic feeder,
had all been eaten up
— and that put my mind at ease.
To think of Yuzu-chan, nervous in her little body,
doing her very best to guard her home
— it makes her just too adorable for words😊
I'd be so happy to see her again.
I'm looking forward to that day😍

Walking Together, One Step at a Time — Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo
Categories: Dogs > On the Job
モカくん16歳
Moka-kun can't quite stand on his own anymore, but his will to rise is as strong as ever. Whenever he's awake, he wriggles about as if to say, "Help me up!"

One, two, one, two — we did our exercises together.
Crouching low to keep him company turned out to be quite the workout for me too. (Maybe this is my chance to shed a few pounds?)

I kept the Totoro walking tune looping in my head, but I was the one who gave up first😂
A little rest along the way matters, too.

Some days he sleeps soundly and deep,
and other days, sleep just won't come for Moka-kun💤

That, too, is part of caring for a beloved senior companion.
I'm so grateful to share in each precious day of Moka-kun's life🙏

May you enjoy plenty of delicious meals,
walk all you like on strong little legs,
and may your days be filled with sweet, peaceful sleep✨

"Let's Go for a Walk~!" — Tennoji-ku, Osaka
Categories: Dogs > On the Job
Nice to meet you! Let's have a lovely two days together.
This is Asahi-kun, a Yorkshire Terrier.

He's adorable and quite the handsome pup💖
Asahi-kun has one rather unusual little signal.
It's putting on his harness and leash and saying, "Let's go for a walk~!"
Now then, what could this signal actually mean?
(…Isn't that just a walk?!🤔)
You'd think so~ normally, that is…

And the answer is… this!
It's mealtime!🍲
After his meal and a little rest, when I pick up the walking bag, then it's time for a real walk😃

Running and walking with plenty of energy,🐾💨🐾💨
then a little break on a bench.

After the walk, Asahi-kun relaxes at home.
I'd love to see him again for another visit~😊
Let's go for a walk together again, too🐾
Until we meet again🥰🥰🥰

At Komugi-kun's Own Pace — Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo
Categories: Dogs > On the Job
Komugi-kun, with a coat of beautifully toasted wheat gold🌾
He's a little on the timid side, so being taken out by this sitter left him looking rather troubled.

Even a lovely treat had to be offered from a distance…🧐
And even once he'd taken it, he was so wary he wouldn't eat it for the longest time.

As he grew used to our walks, I could see him smile, his face full of expression!✨️
He even had room to glance back at me, as if to say, "This is fun, isn't it?"

And after our walk, he began closing the distance between us — before I knew it, he was eating his treats, and even hopping onto my lap!

And yet the next day, there he'd be again, all aloof and hiding under the table (ha!).
"Why, oh why?🥺" I'd wonder — and then set off on another walk to win back that closeness from the very beginning.

Three steps forward, two steps back, over and over,
and little by little, we became friends✨️

I wonder if he'll remember me the next time we meet?
Let's grow closer at your own pace, Komugi-kun🐶

Happy Wedding! — Wedding Sitter Kobe
Categories: Dogs > On the Job > Wedding Sitter
The ones I came to care for this time were…

From the groom's family:
Kotaro-kun, a seven-year-old Shiba Inu.
From the bride's family:
A Miniature Dachshund,
Rin-kun, twelve years old.
After the photo wedding was over,
while everyone enjoyed their celebratory meal,
I looked after Kotaro-kun and Rin-kun
in the waiting room.🍀
It was rather hot and humid, but
with a little milk to drink
and some treats to nibble,
they relaxed and passed the time in comfort.🎵

Kotaro-kun, Rin-kun —
well done on playing such an important role today❗

An Air of True Nobility — Suginami-ku, Tokyo
Categories: Dogs > On the Job
This time, I had the honor of caring for
Manpuku-kun, a Basset Hound.
"Manpuku" — boundless fortune!
What an auspicious name — it seems to promise blessings all its own.😊

I can see exactly why his family named him Manpuku.
That gentle, easygoing presence
carries an almost divine radiance.✨✨✨

Manpuku-kun — or rather, His Lordship Manpuku — is a most friendly personage.
With an upward glance, he requests a tummy rub.
Divine, and yet so utterly adorable!
And I, his humble servant, could never dream
of refusing such a request.

His Lordship Manpuku, relaxing at his leisure.💕

His Lordship, with a face rather like a sleek new bullet train.🚄
His Lordship Manpuku, who bewitches this sitter with an air of true nobility.
Thank you for such a rich and wonderful time.😊
