A Summer Afternoon — Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo

Categories:  >

Surely today, too, he'd be hiding away somewhere out of sight.
It was a summer afternoon I met with such thoughts in mind.

When I happened to lift my gaze, Vyon-kun was atop the piano.
As though he were a piece of furniture that had always rested there,
he lay there, terribly still, in perfect balance.

And yet, it wasn't that he was unaware of my presence.
Without moving, he shifted his eyes just the slightest bit.

In a small voice, I tried calling his name.
Still, he didn't move.
From a little way off, I simply gazed at him.
And then, one of his eyes slowly began to close.

"You're not hiding today."
I murmured softly, deep in my heart.
That he was simply there
made me so very happy.
After a little while, his other eye, too, closed quietly.

Had he fallen asleep, I wondered?
Or else——
had he decided there was no longer any need to be wary of me?
Nothing special had happened.
On any other day, leaving only a trace of his presence,
he would vanish from sight — yet
that day, he was atop the piano.
He opened his eyes,
looked my way just the slightest bit,
and then slowly closed them again.
That was all.

And yet,
a summer afternoon
suits such a small moment so well.
Along with Vyon-kun's quiet presence,
that afternoon, too,
passed slowly by, as though nothing had happened at all.

Switch On! Floss-kun Loves His Walks — Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo

Categories:  >

Floss-kun was once a rescue dog.
Now he has a precious family of his own and spends his days full of happiness.✨

But… a sitter he's meeting for the first time might be just a little scary!?

I wanted to put on his leash and harness for our walk, but Floss-kun went stiff all over with nerves!
Pressed right up against the door, he stood guard with all his might — "I won't let a single finger in!"

Somehow I got him ready, and off we went!!

……

As it turns out, Floss-kun absolutely loves his walks.❤
Even a rainy day is no bother at all!

Tail wagging merrily from side to side, he strode dashingly through the city streets.

"Where did all that nervousness go!?" — such a transformation that I couldn't help but be amazed.✨
He walked along relaxed and full of energy — what a wonderful walk we had!

Floss-kun, let's meet again soon!

My Dependable Big Brother — Setagaya-ku, Tokyo

Categories:  >

I'm Kuru-chan.
If I do say so myself, I'm bright and outgoing through and through. Once I start running, I'll race around endlessly.
And once I start playing with a toy, there's no stopping me.
Since I'm still a kitten, I forget all about getting tired and end up completely worn out.

The one who helps me at times like that is my big brother, Tora-o.
He usually keeps himself tucked away in his favorite spot, but having Tora-o around — with his long years of cat life — makes me feel so safe.

The other day, when I got a little too excited, he slipped smoothly out from his hiding spot in the corner of the room and warned me:
"Now now, take it easy, or you'll trip and hurt yourself. Hiss!"
Thanks to him, I got to play happily without a single scratch.

I call this wonderful brother of mine my dependable big bro.
But don't tell him that, okay?

Keep watching over me from now on, too.
My beloved big brother, Tora-o.❤️

Three Best Friends — Yodogawa-ku, Osaka

Categories:  >

Let me introduce three best friends🙋

Kohaku-kun, who came cuddling up to me from the very first day of care.🐱
While I cleaned the litter box, he gave my head an adorable little cat-punch, and while I prepared meals, he even used my leg as a scratching post🤣

Tidy little Yuyu-chan.🐱
She'd drink right away when I refreshed her water, and use the litter box the moment I'd finished cleaning it.✨

The youngest, Myu-chan.🐱
She'd greet me every time alongside Yuyu-chan, and showed a playful side too, hiding in the litter box while I cleaned it.😉

All together, relaxing on the cat tower.😻

Let's all play together with the laser pointer again soon🥰

Perched on My Shoulder and My Head — Hyogo-ku, Kobe

Categories:  >

The ones I came to care for this time are
were at a home of two parakeets.🌵

A golden-plumed conure,
Chura-chan, twelve years old.

And a monk parakeet, Lime-chan,
five years old.

At our meeting, I'd been told
that Chura-chan has a friendly
nature,🍀
while Lime-chan is shy
and fond of older gentlemen❤️
(she adores the client's father),
or so I'd heard, but… 😁

On the day of care, when I opened the cage,
Chura-chan hopped right onto my shoulder
straight away.☺️
Lime-chan perched atop the refrigerator
and watched me for a little while, but
seeing Chura-chan, she must have decided it was safe,
because she flew right up
onto my head.🕊️

"I'm not your mama,
just some lady from elsewhere,
but are you sure it's okay?" I said to her as I worked,
and all through my care, on my shoulder and head
they stayed perched the whole time.🥳
For parakeets other than the ones I keep myself
to stay perched on me
for such a long time is quite rare,
so it was a truly precious experience❗

Until the next time we meet,
don't forget about me, okay~🐦

A Joyful Reunion — Nerima-ku, Tokyo

Categories:  >

This time, the one I had the pleasure of caring for
was Peko-chan, a brown tabby cat.
It had been about three years since I last cared for her.😊

Last time, she held down the fort together with her buddy, Chihuahua Mame-kun, but this time it was Peko-chan on her own.

At our meeting, she played it cool and acted all aloof, but
as my visits went on, she warmed back up to me once again.

I'm looking forward to another happy reunion.☺️
Thank you so much.✨✨✨
