A Pet Shop with No Price Tags — Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo

Categories:  > > > > > >

Their family, the owner says, has been called "a pet shop with no price tags."

And true to that name, what a big family it is — let me introduce them all!

First up, the crested geckos.

Only Zero-chan has a name so far, but I can't wait to see what the others will be called!🦎

Next, the leopard geckos, Asa-chan and Ume-chan,

and Ike-chan, a West African fat-tailed gecko.

They all love their cozy homes, so often all I can see is a peeking little body.

I'm so glad I managed to capture their faces nicely!🏘️

Maru-chan, a White's tree frog, is wonderfully friendly — he tried to climb onto my hand and went bonk, launching himself right at the doorway!🐸

His roommate, Waru-chan, has a slightly mischievous coloring, but he's actually calmer than Maru-chan.

There was also a little ornament friend that I first mistook for the real thing — "Wait, is he frozen?!" I panicked for a moment (ha!).

Then there's Yome-chan, another crested gecko,

and Shakure-chan, a Mikado gecko (chahoua).

Shakure-chan has the cutest little undershot jaw, but I couldn't quite capture it on camera — oh, the frustration of not being able to share just how adorable she is!

Yoko-chan, a New Caledonian giant gecko.

No, no — Yoko-san!

Best not to get on her bad side — she can be quite fearsome!⚡️

In the cage next to Yoko-san is Kogemi-chan, a hamster.🐹

"Give me my food!" she'd urge me — but she was so cute, I thought I'd snap a photo first… only to be met with quite the stern face!

Next, the degu crew.

There's still plenty more to come — are you all keeping up?

The young ones were full of energy, spinning round and round on their wheel! Before I knew it, they'd polished off all their pellets — hearty appetites and a job well done holding down the fort.🐭

By the second day, many were already eating right from my hand, and not one of them nipped — some even peeked out asking for more (ha!).

"This is the hand that brings food" — that they trust me like that is surely proof of how dearly they're loved every day!

The ones in the lower photo are the senior crew, but with their lovely coats, they're every bit as adorable as the rest. Miru-chan is a remarkable eight years old!

And last, the guinea pigs!

Their care always ends up last on the list, so they let me hear about it with a loud "Wheek!"🥺

Gin-kun is so lively that he made a break for it during cleaning, pattering about adorably.

Kin-kun and Gin-kun are foster pets, so now is the only time I'll get to meet them!

Saving the best for last — Abby-chan!

That soft, fluffy baby coat you can only enjoy right now!

Believe it or not, the photo on the left won a special prize (the "Tropical Resort" award) at the charm Koishikawa photo exhibition!🏅 She was so shy during her stay, yet here she strikes such a dignified pose.

A family so big you could open your own small-animal specialty shop!

A wide range of color variations in stock, too.

But there are no price tags here — these smiles are simply priceless!✨️

What a wonderfully fun visit it was!🏡

Three Adorable Little Friends — Machida, Tokyo

Categories:  > >

First,

let me introduce two friendly, oh-so-cute fancy rats —

the Brothers!

On the left is Hachi-kun.

And right beside him,

the one with a little spot of color on the tip of his nose

is Mit-kun.

The two of them are brothers.

While I cleaned their home,

it was playtime out of the cage for the two of them♪

No matter what they did, they were simply adorable.🥰

First, please enjoy some of their cutest shots.

Those little pink ears.

Those tiny little hands.

This friendliness.

Those round, sparkling eyes.

They don't have cheek pouches, but

they'd pop a few pieces of food into their mouths,

carry them off,

and plop

them down somewhere else.

And then,

when I

would say, "Oh! There's food over here🔍

— who brought this here?"

they seemed to delight in my surprise.

(Hehe!)

They are friendly through and through.

More often than not, I'd suddenly notice them fussing playfully around my feet —

tickling away down there.

Worried I might accidentally step on them,

I had to stay very, very careful!

Just when one had climbed onto my lap,

he came pattering all the way up to my chest,

clambering up to say hello.💞

Inside their home, rows of little towel hammocks make for cozy beds.

And we mustn't forget one more friend.

Let me introduce Takao-kun.

Draped in a long coat of black and dark gray, Takao-kun

is one of the larger kinds of hamster🐹 —

a golden hamster.

Whenever I arrive to care for him,

he's fast asleep inside his tissue-box room.💤

A gentle little tickle

to wake him up, and…

he looks ever so sleepy.☺️

Takao-kun is incredibly cute, too.

While I clean Takao-kun's home, he roams the room safely inside a little dome.

Can you spot him?

That's Takao-kun, right there inside the dome.

From inside, he'd gaze out at the scenery and skillfully steer the dome wherever he pleased.

And he was surprisingly fast!💨

Roll, roll, roll —

off he'd go in the blink of an eye!👏

You know those attractions

made for humans, right?

This was exactly that, in the tiniest, tiniest size!😆

Once he was back home after cleaning,

he happily

sipped some water and enjoyed his meal.😋

Takao-kun

is, above all,

wonderfully fluffy!😃

Everyone's meals

were filled with all sorts of treats,

looking absolutely delicious

and brimming with love —

such lovely meals.

This time,

they were far more affectionate than I ever imagined,

and Hachi-kun and Mit-kun struck me right through the heart —

this smitten little sitter!

You all did such a wonderful job holding down the fort.

Thank you!

Cute, Lively, a Big Happy Family — Tsurumi-ku, Yokohama

Categories:  > > > > > > > >

This time, I had the pleasure of caring for an adorable big family.

Every one of them was so cute, I hardly knew where to look!

Let's start with the cats.

Ran-chan, a Ragdoll, and Karu-chan, a Somali.

Ran-chan came close to me, but the moment I moved, she'd quickly slip away.

Karu-chan, on the other hand, was wonderfully friendly — coming right up to me and even rolling over to show her tummy.

Next up, the degus.

They live two to a room♪

All of them full of energy, always eagerly awaiting their meals!😄

Next come the chinchillas.

Just when I thought they were asleep, they woke up, came over, and showed me their darling little faces.🥰

And there's still more to come!

Next, the squirrel and the voles.

The squirrel popped out of his room to say hello.

The voles ran round and round on a little dish — too cute for words!❤️

(Only two appear in the photo, but there are three of them!)

And then, the ground squirrel and the hamsters. The sight of the ground squirrel munching away

was just too adorable!❤️

The hamsters, too, kept peeking out from their hiding spots to show off their cute little faces.

Last but not least, the gerbils and Goro-chan the rabbit.

The gerbils are experts at tucking themselves away in the timothy hay.

Goro-chan ate plenty and was bursting with energy.😄

I wasn't able to get photos this time, but there was a hedgehog as well, and on top of that,

a turtle, tropical fish, and even a catfish — what a lively, joyful big family!

Each and every one of them, simply adorable.❤️

I lost count of how many times I said "so cute!" during my visit.

May you all keep living happily together, side by side!

Until we meet again!

Sweet Enough to Eat — Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo

Categories:  >

This time, I had the joy of caring for

Ohagi-chan — a sweet little patterned hamster.

It's so easy to see why her family chose the name Ohagi-chan.

Her chestnut-and-cream markings look just like ohagi — the traditional Japanese sweet she's named after.

😀

And true to her name…

she really is so impossibly cute, you could just eat her up.

✨😀✨

She lives up to her sweet name in every way.

Sweet little Ohagi-chan,

may your adorable little self keep bringing your family

all the joy in the world.✨

Thank you so much.✨

Tiny Cuties Times Three — Naniwa-ku, Osaka.

Categories:  >

This time, we had the pleasure of caring for three tiny, adorable Djungarian hamsters.🐹

🐹"I'm Kumori-chan!"💖

When our sitter leaned close to the cage, she came right out to say hello.😍

And then…

🐹"Nice to meet you!"

She pressed her tiny little paws together in the sweetest greeting, followed by the brightest, beaming smile.💕💕💕

🐹"I'm Hokori-chan!"💖

She made it very clear she wanted out of her cage!

Her cow-print coat was just too cute for words.😍

When her meal was ready, she brought it right to the front of the cage.

🐹"Thank you! Time to dig in!" — and the munching began right away.💕💕💕

But still…

🐹"You're really not going to let me out?!"

🐹"And I'm Moufu-kun!"💖

Here's Moufu-kun, fresh from his nap.🥱

But the moment his meal was ready…

🐹"Mmm, this is delicious!"👍🏻

With cheeks puffed full, he gave it his all, munching away with everything he had‼️

Moufu-kun also brought his food right to the front of the cage, treating us to the most adorable little feast.🥰

Thank you, sweet ones!😊

Until we meet again.💖
