Three Cats, One Journey Through — Suita, Osaka

Categories:  >

Facing their very first long stay alone — ten whole days —

were three lovely cats: Mei-chan, Rin-chan, and Kabu-kun.

Gentle, easygoing Mei-chan.😺

For the first day or two, perhaps she was nervous —

she wouldn't eat her canned food,

and whenever I came near, she'd slip quietly away

and move to another room.🐾💨

But little by little, she seemed to grow used to me.

When I began preparing her meals, she'd wait close by,

and day by day, she ate more and more.🎵

Apart from mealtimes, she kept a comfortable distance,

passing the days at her own gentle pace.

Mei-chan is under treatment for an illness,

so she also needed her medicine,

but she took it without much fuss at all —

such a very good girl.

Rin-chan, the one who warmed to me most of all.

From the very first day, she let me pet her,

and played with her toys with me —

I was able to truly connect with Rin-chan.🙌

As she grew comfortable, she'd roll right over while I petted her,

asking sweetly for more affection.

Of the three cats, she took to me the most.🥰

And Kabu-kun, who is ever so timid.

Kabu-kun, whose coat and markings look much like Mei-chan's,

never once came out while I was there.

But he always stayed somewhere I could see him —

and that's the wonderful thing about Kabu-kun.😊👍

At first he wouldn't touch his Churu treats,

but after a few days, he began to eat them,

and this sitter was overcome with joy.

During this stay,

the one most affected by the change in her surroundings

was Rin-chan.

After a few days had passed,

she stopped playing with her toys,

she wouldn't eat her Churu treats right away,

and Rin-chan seemed downhearted, her usual spark gone.

There were small changes in her condition, too…💦

Hoping to ease her worries as much as I could,

from that day on, I spoke softly to Rin-chan —

"It's alright, it's alright."

"Mama will surely come home."

"Mama is doing her best, so let's do our best too, Rin-chan." —

and I kept petting her, slowly and gently, all the while.🤗

In the end, her energy and appetite returned, and her condition settled.

What a relief!😭✨

Through this first long stay alone,

even with the stress of Mama being away,

all three of them were brave and came through it together.💪😼
