A Reptile Kingdom in the Making — Adachi-ku, Tokyo

Categories:  > > > >

The home I visited this time is a family of reptiles!🦎🏡🪴

First up, Tarako-chan the green iguana.

Tarako-chan used to thrash about in her cage, crying "Let me out~!" — so much so that she'd even tear her claws. Seeing this, her owner did something wonderful: they set aside a whole spacious studio room just for her!🏡✨

Her favorite thing is gazing out at the world through the big window.♬

During my visit, even when the neighbor was hanging laundry out on the balcony, the two of them seemed entirely used to each other.

"They must have been so surprised the very first time they saw her…" — imagining that, I couldn't help but chuckle to myself.🤭

Next comes Wasabi-chan, a red-sided spiny-tailed iguana.

Wonderfully quick on her feet, with an absolute love of pumpkin!

But since it's high in calories, it's limited to one piece a day, to keep her healthy and trim.

When I misted her with water, she narrowed her eyes in blissful, relaxed contentment.🛁✨

Next is Yomogi-chan, a veiled chameleon.

Still just a one-year-old baby chameleon.

Her vivid green body is so beautiful, and the sight of her stretching out that long, long tongue to eat is cuteness itself.

Normally she drinks water one drop at a time from a dropper… but this proved rather tricky for me💦

So Yomogi-chan gripped the dropper tightly, as if to say, "My mouth is over here!"😁

So clever it made me smile — such a delightful little moment.✨

Last is Chaba-chan, a Merauke blue-tongued skink.

At first, her favorite spot was under the blanket, and just as I thought, "Maybe I won't get to see her at all this time?"…

Ta-daa!!✨

She popped out to show herself!

Beneath that cool, striking look is the most endearing little face.

Perfectly still, she greeted me with a long, steady bit of eye contact — and I couldn't help but grin right back.💕

This time, let me share a few photos of the reptiles who weren't part of my care! So exciting!

It seems their family is only going to grow from here — truly, the makings of a "Reptile Kingdom"!🦎🎉✨

Soothed by all these wonderfully unique little ones, I had a delightful week of care.

See you again soon~👋
